Mamelodi Sundowns have officially announced the acquisition of an Orlando Pirates star.
The Brazilians have made a massive statement by signing the 2022 PSL Players’ Player of the Season!
Monnapule Saleng, who was out on loan at Orbit College during the first half of the season, is officially a Brazillian.
Orlando Pirates ace Monnapule Saleng joins rivals
Mamelodi Sundowns shocked the local football scene on Friday evening by announcing the arrival of Monnapule Saleng.
Saleng enjoyed a rollercoaster five-year stay at the Buccaneers. He made a total of 70 appearances for the club, scoring 25 goals while assisting 17 more.
After his fall-out with management last year, Orlando Pirates decided to loan Saleng out for the first half of the 2025/26 campaign.
Sundowns announce shock new signing
“Masandawana, meet our latest arrival, Monnapule Saleng. Pace, power, and pure ambition as he joins the Home of the Champions,” an official club statement read.
Saleng follows in the footsteps of the likes of Thembinkosi Lorch, Teko Modise, Kermit Erasmus, Innocent Mdedle, Gift Leremi and Linda Buthelezi to join Sundowns for Orlando Pirates.
Saleng will be hoping for a big second half of the season. And with the 2026 Fifa World Cup coming up, he could very well be back in the Bafana Bafana setup if he hits the ground running at Chloorkop.
One thing Hugo Broos’ side lacked at AFCON 2025 was ‘fearlessness’. The attack was rather tame. Saleng will undoubtedly add some bite to it, should he obviously return to his best form.
