Sundowns Secure Major New Signing

Posted on September 22, 2025

Mamelodi Sundowns have agreed terms with Vitória Guimarães SC for the transfer of midfielder Nuno Santos ahead of the transfer deadline tomorrow.

The 26-year-old Portugal midfielder will arrive in South Africa tomorrow after the two parties reached a club-to-club agreement and personal terms for the imminent transfer.

Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has made no secret that the club needs attacking reinforcements and Santos who can feature as a ten or an inverted winger has now been secured to bolster their first team squad.

Sources have confirmed the deal is around R20-million for the former Benfica and Charlottte playmaker, who has agreed a ‘long-term’ contract with Masandawana.

He’s featured 90 times for Guimarães, scoring eight goals with 16 assists in 90 games since his arrival from the Major League Soccer (MLS) side in July 2023.

Back in 2019 he was also part of the Portugal U17 squad that won the UEFA U17 European Championship and has been capped from U16 level all the way up to the U21s but has yet to make his senior international debut.
