Sundowns Secure Exciting New Signing

Posted on October 20, 2025

Mamelodi Sundowns have secured the services of promising goalkeeper Lwandiso Radebe from SuperSport United Academy.

Radebe, 16, is widely regarded as one of the finest goalkeeping prospects in the country and has been a mainstay in the junior international set-up from U15 to U17 and now set to graduate into the U-20 set-up.

He’s been part of the SuperSport development system that has still been active since the first team rebranded to Siwelele and Sundowns have now secured his services into their development set-up.

The towering keeper is likely to form part of the U19 squad to be fast-tracked in the DStv Diski Challenge squad, and marks and exciting journey for the Westville-born talent who starred in South Africa’s run to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco – where they lost to the hosts and eventual winners.

His agency ProSport International confirmed the move on their official social media accounts on Sunday afternoon; “Congratulations to Lwandiso Radebe, captain of the South Africa U-17 National Team, on signing with Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Lwandiso’s journey has been nothing short of exceptional, from leading Amajimbos to victory in the CAF U-17 AFCON Qualifiers, to being named Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the 2025 COSAFA Region 5 Youth Games.

“A true leader, a champion, and now part of the Brazilians family. The future is golden for this young shot-stopper!”

Radebe looks set to form part of the U17 FIFA World Cup squad set to jet off to Qatar in the coming days.
