Sundowns release statement amid Lucas Ribeiro Costa news

Mamelodi Sundowns have released an official statement aimed at putting out the fire set by the news of Lucas Ribeiro Costa.

Ribeiro Costa is currently not with Sundowns despite having an existing contract which runs out in June 2028.

On Thursday, The South African reported on Ribeiro Costa’s intention to terminate his contract with Sundowns.

This is due to the fact that he feels The Brazilians are unfairly denying him an opportunity to play abroad.

Qatar SC and Fluminense are some of the teams reported to have shown huge interest in the Brazilian attacker.

However, Sundowns are reportedly making it impossible with their high transfer fee demands, and now the club has hit back.

In the statement, Sundowns said they are committed to continue discussions and negotiations with teams interested in their players.

However, they maintain that they will do that for the interest of all the parties involved, including the club itself.

It is worth mentioning that Ribeiro Costa is not the only player that is pushing for a move abroad.

Attacker Thapelo Maseko and defender Khuliso Mudau are among those reported to be unhappy with Sundowns’ decisions.
