Sundowns linked to two Pirates stars: Will they leave Mayfair?

Mamelodi Sundowns are not done with revamping their squad for the current campaign. They still have a bit of time to bring in some familiar faces to their squad, before the transfer window closes in September.

Their major concern is the attack options that they have and they want to sign more attack-minded players. Sundowns knows what’s required from them this season and they don’t want to pull off another mediocre run in the DStv Premiership. In terms of just winning the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title and not other trophies namely the MTN 8 and Nedbank Cup.

Even the CAF Champions League that they’ve been missing out on for the past couple of years now. Since, they last won it back in 2016 which is something that Rulani Mokwena wants to overcome with his players.

Hence, he’s believed to be looking at recruiting two Orlando Pirates stars that will help in the quest of clinching the second elite African competition for the second time. Also, Mokwena has worked with the Buccaneers duo Vincent Pule and Thembinkosi Lorch which makes it a bit better for them as they’ll know what he wants from them at Chloorkop.

The challenging part is that both Lorch and Pule have been out of action for Pirates in the past couple of campaigns. It’s rare to see them completing the whole season without any issues that can affect their football careers.

Hence, they’re regarded as injury-prone players, at the sametime it wouldn’t hurt having them in the squad as they’re able to uplift the spirits of their team mates. It could be challenging for Sundowns to have them both, as they recently signed new deals with Pirates. Hence, Downs is looking at getting the services of Khanyisa Mayo who’s currently in the books of Cape Town City FC.
