Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has provided an update on Monnapule Saleng’s recovery.
Saleng made a surprise move to the Brazilians from rivals Orlando Pirates last month.
Saleng was actually out on loan at Magesi FC for the opening half of the season.
When he arrived at Sundowns though, he was carrying an injury. Now, Cardoso has provided an update on the talented winger.
Sundowns coach gives positive Saleng update
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has revealed that Monnapule Saleng is ahead of schedule in his recovery journey.
Saleng was originally supposed to be ruled out until at least March, however Cardoso has revealed that the speedy winger could feature for the club in the coming weeks.
“Saleng has recovered very positively. If you remembered when I last spoke about Saleng, I told you in a negative approach that we may have Saleng out for two months. That’s because I also wanted to take out some pressure from his recovery and from himself,” the Sundowns coach told reporters.
“I believe that it will probably not be necessary all the time for him to be training normally. Then we need to understand from him if he’s already feeling himself physically and fitness wise, capable of helping the team. We will make him understand a few details from what we want from him and then understand when the moment comes to allow him to be capable of performing.”
Saleng brings experience and excitement to Downs
Saleng will bring both experience and flair to the Sundowns attack. He already has over 115 top-flight appearances in the PSL.
The 27-year-old winger has 29 goals to his name along with 27 more assists. His speed, ability to beat his defender and eye for goal will benefit the Brazilians tremendously.
Miguel Cardoso will undoubtedly be hoping he can utilise Saleng for the remainder of the CAF Champions League, where his side have looked rather blunt so far.
