Stellenbosch FC forward Lehlohonolo Mojela has revealed how last year’s MTN8 final especially his goal still hurt him because his side went on to lose the game.
Mojela was the first on the score sheet with a stunning bicycle kick when his side faced Orlando Pirates in the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium last October where Stellies went on to lose 3-1 in a controversial manner.
Mojela and co have another shot at the Wafa Wafa title against the same opponent who are vying for a fourth successive crown in Mbombela on Saturday.
The 28 year old spoke to iDiski Times senior journalist Lorenz Köhler and Editor Rob Delport in edition 221 of the newspaper where he touched on why he sometimes wishes he could forget that goal.
“You know, the goal I scored in last year’s final was very special, because it was a world-class goal,” Mojela told iDiski Times.
“But we ended up losing the match, which also brought pain to me and my teammates. So I sometimes try to forget that goal, because it brings pain to me.”
The former TS Galaxy man added that supporters can look forward to an entertaining decider at his former home ground
“The fans can expect an interesting game” added Mojela.
“They’ll be up on their seats until the final whistle has blown. And my message to the Stellies supporters is to keep on supporting us, and we’ll make sure we work hard to bring back the trophy to Stellenbosch.”
