
Tickets for the highly anticipated Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 28 February have officially sold out.
Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.
Demand was overwhelming, with supporters snapping up seats in record time both online and at retail outlets.
The clash will be the first of two league Soweto derbies this season, with the return fixture set for 25 April.
Title race implications
The match could have a significant impact on the Betway Premiership title race.
At the halfway stage of the season, Orlando Pirates lead the standings with 35 points from 15 matches.
Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns sit second on 32 points, while Kaizer Chiefs are third with 30 points from the same number of games.
Both sides have been particularly impressive defensively.
Orlando Pirates have conceded just five goals, while Kaizer Chiefs have let in six.
In attack, Orlando Pirates hold the advantage with 22 goals scored, compared to Kaizer Chiefs’ 15.
Kaizer Chiefs last won the league title in the 2014/15 season, while Orlando Pirates’ most recent triumph came in 2011/12.
Since the start of the PSL era in 1996/97, both clubs have lifted the league trophy four times.
