Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize Named President of Eswatini’s Mbabane Highlanders

In a star-studded ceremony in Eswatini on Saturday, businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize was unveiled as the new president of Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club. She was joined by her son, Andile Mpisane, at the high-profile event.

Mkhize has already revamped the club’s branding, blending the black and white of Highlanders with gold accents from her former PSL team, Royal AM. She explained the change as a symbol of unity between the two clubs and nations.

Contrary to earlier rumors, Mkhize did not buy the club. Instead, she was handed a three-year deal to manage its operations. The previous chairman, Bheki Simelane, had an 18-month contract. A local journalist clarified that clubs in Eswatini are typically not for sale—ownership prefers appointing leaders on a contractual basis to run teams independently.
