
Kaizer Chiefs‘ attacking midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala struck a brace in a 4-1 win over Orbit College to climb into second place.
With 22 points on the board, Amakhosi have drawn level with log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who will respond on Wednesday at home to TS Galaxy.
MDUDUZI SHABALALA SCORES TWICE FOR KAIZER CHIEFS AGAINST ORBIT COLLEGE
The 21-year-old Shabalala found his first goal as early as the fourth minute before completing his brace in the 61st minute. Shabalala’s Soweto homeboy Mfudo Vilakazi made it 3-1 in the 71st minute before substitute Flavio Silva made it 4-1 in the 89th minute for his fourth goal in six games.
Shabalala’s double has taken his tally to three goals in 14 games after scoring in the 1-1 draw with AmaZulu last month.
The victory was Kaizer Chiefs’ second triumph on the trot after Silva‘s late goal in the 1-0 result over Durban City last Friday.
Co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef have made four changes after Friday’s game at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Asanele Velebayi replaced Glody Lilepo, the speedy right-back Thabiso Monyane came in for Dillan Solomons, Zitha Kwinika replaced the suspended Inacio Miguel in central defence. In the center of midfield, Thabo Cele had a chance to show he can own the number eight role in place of Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.
