Rulani’s Alger Fall To Defeat In Sudan

Posted on November 21, 2025

Rulani Mokwena suffered his first defeat of the season after MC Alger lost 2-1 to Al-Hilal Omdurman in their CAF Champions League Group C opener at Amahoro National Stadium on Friday.

The match got off to quite a slow tempo as both sides showed a cautious approach.

With Alger showing poor signs as the game progressed, it was Hilal who broke the deadlock through Abdelrazig Omer’s right footed shot from the centre of the box with two minutes added before the halftime whistle.

Alger hit back with the equaliser thanks to Mustafa Karshoum’s 53rd minute own goal to make it 1-1.

The home side then restored parity in the 75th minute with Mohamed Abdelrahman making it 2-1.

Al-Hilal managed to thwart a late onslaught from the Algerians despite going a man down after a second yellow card for Salah Adil in the 87th minute to claim maximum points and move top of the group while Alger are now placed rock bottom.
