South African tactician Rulani Mokwena guided MC Alger into the next round of the Algerian Cup after their narrow 1-0 win over El Bayadh on Thursday.
Mokwena and his charges remained unbeaten in Algerian competitions having lost just one match this season which was their 2-1 Champions League defeat to Al-Hilal.
Oussama Benhaoua scored the only goal of the match in the 11th minute, but the home side could’ve doubled their lead late on in the match, but Zinedine Ferhat missed a 64th-minute penalty.
Alger advanced to the Algerian Cup Round of 32 and Mokoena has now recorded nine wins with five draws and a single defeat in 15 matches across all competitions.
