Rulani Mokwena’s 10-men MC Alger played to a 1-1 away draw against Josef Zinnbauer’s JS Kabylie in the Algerian Ligue 1 on Friday evening.
The South African tactician saw his charges take the lead in the 61st minute through Alhassane Bangoura but were reduced to 10 men in the 63rd minute as Mohamed Bangoura received his marching orders.
Alger looked destined for yet another win but Mohamed Amine Madani netted an 83rd-minute penalty for a share of the spoils.
Despite dropping points on the road, Mokwena’s charges still hold a healthy nine-point lead at the summit with a match in hand over second-placed and rivals USM Alger.
They next face Constantine at home on Monday, 5 January.
