Remo Stars Intend Not to Show Any Respect To Sundowns

Posted on October 18, 2025

Nigeria Premier Football League champions Remo Stars technical adviser Tiago Conde stated the mandate is to reach the CAF Champions League group stages.

Conde aims to take Stars to a level they have never reached before which is the CAF Champions League group stages. The NPFL defending champions have a mountain to climb as they are set to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2nd preliminary round.

After winning their first league title in the club’s history last season, the Sky Blue Stars aim to eliminate Sundowns despite not starting the NPFL well this season losing three of the first seven games and finding themselves in seventh position.

“Obviously it is a big challenge for us, it is a privilege to play against a team like Mamelodi Sundowns of course the story they have in this competition is bigger compared to Remo Stars but we prepared for these two games, and we want to go where we’ve never been and our main focus is this; we want to do what we’ve never done, to win, to go the group stages to play in the next phase of the competition that’s our focus,” Conde told the media.

“Is it difficult? Of course but it’s difficult for them as well because it’s 11 against 11 and a game of two legs. Our plan and organization is for these two games and to win the two games go to the next phase of the competition.”
