From Europe to the United States and the Middle East, Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana attacker Relebohile Mofokeng has attracted tremendous interest.

Orlando Pirates reportedly received an offer in the region of R35 million for Mofokeng from the USA.

Official bid

“According to respected American journalist Tom Bogert, Minnesota United FC (MNUFC) have submitted an official bid higher than $2 million (R35 million), with talks between both clubs ongoing,” recent reports suggested.

“Bogert further states, MNUFC are “long-time admirers of Mofokeng” and would sign him as one of the U-22 players,” they added.

Furthermore, the skillful Bucs attacker has also garnered interest from Europe and the Middle East.

Barcelona ‘B’ in Spain, Scottish giants Rangers and Russian side FC Akron Tolyatti have all tried to lure Mofokeng to Europe.

However, none of these moves materialised in the recent transfer window.

Orlando Pirates were able to maintain the services of Mofokeng despite all the opportunities he had to play abroad.

However, anything is possible with the upcoming January transfer window.

Mofokeng is well aware of the opportunities in front of him.

Firstly, he has the chance to play in Europe. This is the dream of many young footballers in South Africa.

He could also choose to live in the USA or in the Middle East.

All three options would likely result in much higher earnings for the Orlando Pirates star due to the strength of their respective currencies.

The ball is in Mofokeng’s court. Ultimately, it will come down to what he wants.

For now, he is focused on Orlando Pirates and making it into Bafana Bafana 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

Orlando Pirates fand will be holding their collective breath to see what he decides in the January transfer window.
