Kaizer Chiefs have fallen in the latest club rankings. Pirates and Sundowns have climbed up substantially.

Kaizer Chiefs have dropped down over 50 places in the latest African club rankings.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have both improved their positions following the commencement of the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.

CHIEFS DROP OUTSIDE OF AFRICA’S TOP 100

Chiefs have dropped from 50th to 112th place in the latest Africa club world rankings reported on FootballDataBase.

Meaning, they have fallen 72 places.

This is largely because they failed to qualify for the CAF Champions League last season. So, Amakhosi have a chance to climb their way up the ranking in the up-and-coming CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Chiefs have qualified for the 2025/26 Confederation Cup. This is because they won the Nedbank Cup.

PIRATES AND SUNDOWNS SOAR UP, EXTEND LEAD OVER

Pirates have risen 115 places to climb from 129th to 14th in Africa.

Whilst, Mamelodi Sundowns have risen from 19th to second on the continent. Thus, climbing up 17 spots in the latest club rankings for Africa.

Therefore, Sundowns are the highest-ranked South African club. Pirates are the second-highest-ranked PSL side in Africa.
