Raheem Sterling signs for Arsenal on loan

Posted on December 21, 2025

Raheem Sterling has agreed to a season-long loan deal that will see him don the colours of Arsenal this campaign.

Chelsea were eager to find a solution to their wage bill with Sterling earning more than £300k-per-week.

Raheem Sterling signs for Arsenal

Arsenal announced the signing late on Friday: “Raheem Sterling has joined us on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

“The 29-year-old winger arrives at the club having won every domestic honour, including four Premier League titles and five Football League Cups. He has made 379 appearances in the top flight, scoring 123 goals and assisting 63 times.

“Raheem began his youth career at QPR before moving to Liverpool’s academy. He went on to establish himself as a first-team player, making his senior debut in 2012 and earning his first England cap the same year. He then moved to Manchester City in 2015, winning all of his Premier League titles during his seven years with the club as well as the EFL Cup five times, the FA Cup and Community Shield, before joining Chelsea in 2022.

“Raheem’s individual honours include being named FWA Footballer of the Year in 2018/19, and he was voted into the PFA’s Team of the Year at the end of the same season.

“Raheem has been capped 82 times by England – only 16 players have made more appearances for the men’s team – and was a key man for his country as they finished runners-up at Euro 2020.

“Everyone at Arsenal welcomes Raheem to the club.

“The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”

The Gunners were perhaps the busiest team in the Premier League on transfer deadline day, with both incomings and outgoings.

They approved the sales of Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah to Southampton and Crystal Palace, respectively, while Reiss Nelson joined Fulham on loan.

Arsenal also signed Neto on loan, but the most significant news of deadline day was Sterling’s transfer to the Emirates from Chelsea.

Staying in the England picture

According to football.london, Sterling’s main ambition is to get back within the England setup. The publication claimed that the winger turned down a move to Saudi Arabia because he believed that would be detrimental to his chances of achieving that.
