Polokwane City forward Mokibelo Ramabu has revealed his family’s love for Orlando Pirates and how interesting match days against his side are at home.

Ramabu has been an integral part of Rise and Shine since their promotion to the big league two seasons ago, helping them finish in the top 8 twice in the period.

The 27-year-old spoke to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 220 of the newspaper where he spoke about how it was tough to convince his parents about pursuing a professional career in football and how proud they are of him for going to school and eventually making it work with his passion.

Ramabu said he enjoys the banter with his father when the Limpopo side plays against the Buccaneers.

“Everyone in my family supports Pirates, no one supported any other club (laughs),” Ramabu told iDiski Times.

“So when Polokwane City plays against Pirates, my dad simply tells me, ‘Son, I favour you, but today I’m going with Pirates’. And I tell him, ‘Okay, no problem, so let me go make sure that you are not happy with me when I come back home’.”

Ramabu added that he understands where his parents where coming from with their fears of him playing football professionally.

“Yes, it is such a proud moment for my parents because, remember, they weren’t really in favour of me pursuing football,” added Ramabu.

“They had real fears, the shortness of the career and other things, but that I persevered to a point where I’m competing professionally against the likes of Orlando Pirates it is a proud moment for them. They see why I was so serious.”
