Former Orlando Pirates defender Marshall Munetsi, who has transitioned into centre forward role at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League, has heaped praise on Buccaneers centre-back Mbekezeli Mbokazi, calling him a “beast” on the pitch.
The 19-year-old Hluhluwe-born defender has been turning heads with his performances, and even Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos believes he’s ready for the European stage.
With Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi out injured since early August, Mbokazi skippered the team to MTN8 glory.

The teenager joined the Sea Robbers’ DStv Diski Challenge (reserve team) from Langalibalele Sports Academy in KZN in 2024.
Former Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro handed him his senior debut in March 2025 before Mbokazi became a Bafana Bafana international in June.
“That says a lot about Pirates because they always have a producing a beast, because everytime you see him play, that guy is very strong,” Munetsi said on Mike Morton Talks Football YouTube Channel.
“But when you see him play, not only on his physique, but also how he reads the game, how he covers the space.
“[Orlando] Pirates deserves (praise) for recruiting such quality young players. I was watching some game of him, he did very well, South Africa has real talent,” Munetsi added.
