Pitso will not survive at Kaizer Chiefs, says club legend

Posted on October 15, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs legend Joseph “Banks” Setlhodi feels Pitso Mosimane will not last at Amakhosi if he gets the coaching job.

Mosimane has linked with the Soweto giants for several years now but no official offer was ever made by the club. “Jingles” has said in a number of interviews that he was keen to coach Chiefs if he was approached.

Setlhodi said the only way Kaizer Chiefs will improve and compete for top honours was by getting quality players.

“Before you talk about coaches, let’s talk about the players,” he told FARPost.

“You can bring 20 coaches to Chiefs, from the best in the world, the results won’t change.

“Chiefs lack good footballers. That is the problem. The coach does not win the game; the players win the game. The coach only directs,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs legend slams management

The former Amakhosi star questioned the club’s leadership after the sacking of coach Nasreddine Nabi.

“If you are blind and leading a nation, that nation will fail because you see nothing. I don’t think Kaizer Chiefs have good leaders to address what’s happening. Everybody can see where the problem is at Chiefs. They don’t fix the problems. The question is, why? Why.”

Regarding Pitso, Setlhodi explained why Mosimane wouldn’t last at Kaizer Chiefs despite his knowledge and achievements.

“Pitso would not stay at Chiefs. You know why? Because Chiefs don’t have good leaders, they don’t know how to address football matters. They think football is just business; you just go to the office and stay there,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs have only won one trophy in 10 years despte chopping and changing coaches. Currently the club is without a permanent coach after parting ways with Nasreddine Nabi after just one full season.

Where do you think Chiefs will finish at the end of the season?
