Pitso Mosimane’s words on Kaizer Chiefs job

Posted on September 20, 2025

Let’s follow some logic: Kaizer Chiefs swapping Nabi and his staff for Mosimane and his own crew wouldn’t make financial or sporting sense.

Nevertheless, a section of Amakhosi fans wants this conversation to be had.

Back in 2024, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly mastermind put himself forward for the Amakhosi hot seat on live television. Shockingly, that was as far as it went.

KAIZER CHIEFS IGNORED PITSO MOSIMANE?

Mosimane was asked on Soccer Africa if he would be interested in the Kaizer Chiefs job. Mosimane said, “We should respect the brand; it is a big brand. When the Chiefs play, I go to the grandstand and watch. I don’t need that.

“If it is meant to be, it will be there. I declare to you officially on TV. I am here, I am available, I’m a professional coach.

“If it has to be, it will be. Do I want to coach Kaizer Chiefs? Why not? Why not coach Kaizer Chiefs? “Why not?”

Two months later, instead of snapping up South Africa’s and the continent’s greatest ever coach, the club’s hierarchy hired Nasreddine Nabi.

The biggest mystery in South African sports history is why the Soweto giants passed on the record five-time Premier Soccer League winner and the only coach to ever lift three CAF Champions League titles.

Will Kaizer Chiefs return for Mosimane after Nabi’s departure this week? Reports suggest otherwise. Word is that the club has approached Portuguese coach Pedro Soares Gonçalves.
