Pirates XI For CAFCL Opener Confirmed

Posted on September 20, 2025

Orlando Pirates confirmed their starting lineup for the CAF Champions League against Lesotho side Lioli FC at the Toyota Stadium.

Pirates’ Champions League journey starts today against the champions of Lesotho as they Buccaneers play their first official match since winning the MTN8 a week ago.

Pirates went as far as reaching the semi-final of the competition last season, where they lost to eventual winners Pyramids – who ousted Mamelodi Sundowns in the final of Africa’s elite club competitions.

With a new man at the helm, Abseslam Ouaddou, the Buccaneers would love to go a step further this season but that will all start this afternoon.

This is a home match for Lioli but due to not having CAF approved stadium they had to use alternative venue which they chose the Free State arena – Lioli won the Vodacom Premier League in Lesotho with 71 points in a 30 matches league.

Here is how they line up

Pirates XI: Chaine, Seema, Mbokazi, Lebitso, Hotto, Nduli, Mbule, Mbatha, Appollis, Mofokeng, Mabasa

Subs: Buthelezi, Sibisi, Shandu, Nadba, Nemtajela, Dlamini, Dansin, Moremi, Makgopa
