Orlando Pirates made light work of Chippa United with a thumping 3-0 win at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Pirates pinned Chippa against the wall as early as the first minute as Stanley Nwabali was forced into parrying Oswin Appollis’ cross away from danger.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 10th minute after Pirates dispossessed the Chippa defence before Patrick Maswanganyi slotted home to make it 1-0.
Two minutes later, Maswanganyi missed a chance to grab his brace as Nwabali made a great save from close range.
Deon Hotto doubled the Buccaneers’ lead in the 42nd minute after benefitting from Appollis’ pass before beating Nwabali at the near post.
Maswanganyi missed another chance to add to his second of the afternoon after being denied by Nwabali from the penalty spot in the 50th minute.
Seven minutes later, Appollis’ shot from distance rattled the upright with Nwabali well beaten.
Appollis turned provider again by laying off a pass to Tshepang Moremi who made no mistake with a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.
Abdeslam Ouaddou’s charges moved into position number five going into the international break while Chippa remained rooted in 16th spot.
