Orlando Pirates have announced their starting line-up for this evening’s Betway Premiership clash at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
The Buccaneers’ quest for a first league crown since the 2011/12 season continues when they take on Polokwane City as they aim for maximum points out in Limpopo.
Pirates come into this tie in high spirits having dispatched Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 in their last league encounter to remain at the summit of the standings.
After enduring two straight defeats for the second time this season, Abdeslam Ouaddou and his troops bounced back strongly to see off the Glamour Boys and reclaim top spot in the Betway Prem.
They are currently tied on the same number of points (41) with Mamelodi Sundowns though they are ahead by one goal on goal difference.
Their newfound momentum will be tested by a Rise and Shine outfit equally high in confidence after they beat Magesi 2-0 in the Polokwane Derby last week Friday.
Phuti Mohafe’s team sit in seventh place on the league standings with 28 points and a rare upset over Pirates will see them leapfrog the likes of AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs into fifth place.
This clash has been heavily dominated by Pirates over the years who have won 11 of the 19 meetings. Polokwane have won just once while seven matches have ended in stalemates.
