Orlando Pirates legend Daine Klate has been left impressed with the growth of teenage duo Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Relebohile Mofokeng at the club.

Mbokazi, 19, who was only promoted from the development ranks in January this year has made a solid impact in Pirates’ backline and has also been handed captaincy duties in the absence of Nkosinathi Sibisi. Meanwhile 20-year-old Mofokeng has shined in his two-and-a-half years with the first team helping the team to five domestic trophies. The pair have also gone one to be just important in the senior national team.

Klate spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 221 of the newspaper on his excitement about the youngsters and how they understand their roles in the team.

“It’s exciting to see the young players making the impact that they are,” Klate told iDiski Times.

“A player like [Mbekezeli] Mbokazi is doing special things and Rele [Relebohile Mofokeng] has shown his class. I think Rele understands the role he can play in any match, more so in big ones like the cup final. He and the rest of the team should be aware that if the team performs collectively, then the individuals will stand out more.”
