Pirates Into Second Position – iDiski Times

Posted on February 1, 2026

Orlando Pirates moved to second position on the Betway Premiership log after defeating Magesi FC 2-0 at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

Pirates’ win sees them equal on points (32) with Mamelodi Sundowns while they also have a game in hand. Meanwhile, Dikwena Tṧa Meetse are rock bottom with 11 points from 15 matches.

Pirates’ intention to get goals was clear from the first whistle with Oswin Appollis causing traffic in the opposition’s box but he couldn’t score. It was in the ninth minute that the hosts broke the deadlock through Yanela Mbuthuma assisted by Relebohile Mofokeng.

Pirates were in the driving seat creating more opportunities however Tshepang Moremi missed the target a few times. It was the combination of Mofokeng and Mbuthuma that extended the lead but with roles reversed this time, Mofokeng finding the back of the net four minutes to the break.

Elvis Chipezeze was forced to make a super save soon after as Moremi launched a shot from range leaving the score at 2-0 at halftime.

The Buccaneers picked up where they left off in the second half with Moremi testing Chipezeze two minutes into the stanza but and the Zimbabwe international made a save a gain.

Chipezeze was called again three minutes after the hour to deny Appollis to score third goal.  There was another golden opportunity missed by substitute Masindi Nemtajela two minutes later.
