Posted on January 25, 2026

Orlando Pirates were held to a goalless draw by Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon and missed out on a chance to return to the top of the table.

The result sees Buccaneers remaining in second position on the table with 29 points from 13 games while Sekhukhune remained in fourth spot with 26 points from 15 matches.

Pirates enjoyed the lion’s share of possession creating the most chances especially in the first half but still could not find the back of the net.

Tshepang Moremi had early chance in the opening five minutes. Kamogelo Sebelebele also had an opportunity but shot over the bar.

Bradley Mojela in his first start for Sekhukhune could have broken the deadlock in the 10th minute but also missed.

Pirates piled pressure on the hosts with Makhehleni Makhaula taking a shot from range after 20 minutes but it went wide.

The visitors could have also scored with four minutes to the break after winning a corner but Ba Bina Noko defense cleared the ball from the goal line leaving the encounter goalless at halftime.

When the second half resumed Pirates picked up where they left off with Patrick Maswanganyi firing from outside the and his effort going over the bar.

There were several changes from the bench from the respective technical teams but ultimately, neither side were able to break the deadline and a point was shared.
