Pirates Go Six Clear Off Downs

Posted on February 15, 2026

While Mamelodi Sundowns were in action in CAF Champions League, Orlando Pirates made their homework in the Betway Premiership, beating Marumo Gallants 3-0 to move six points clear at the top.

The Buccaneers are now 14 games in the league unbeaten, moving to 38 points from 16 outings – with Sundowns in second place with 32 points from 15 points.

Pirates got off to the perfect start when Yanela Mbuthuma was on the end of a cross by Relebohile Mofokeng to push the ball over the line after four minutes.

The Buccaneers remained in control of the game and opened a two-goal lead after 28 minutes when they recouped the ball close to the Gallants box before a shot by Patrick Maswanganyi was deflected into the goal.

Pirates had a great chance to make it 3-0, but a shot from Evidence Makgopa from inside the box flew over the bar.

Relebohile Mofokeng eventually scored Pirates third after dancing past half of the Gallants defense to finish with a cheeky toe poke, making it three goals in his last three league games.

The Buccaneers have now won 13 games in a row at the Orlando Amstel Arena, cementing their place at the top of the Betway Premiership.
