Pirates Coach On How ‘Impact Players’ Changed The Game

Posted on September 24, 2025

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has lauded his substitutes for turning the game on its head in their narrow win over Siwelele FC.

In what was fierce tussle between the two sides with chances few and far between, it took 80 minutes for the deadlock to be finally broken as substitutes Oswin Appollis and Evidence Makgopa combined well on the edge of the Siwelele box before the former struck low to hand the Buccaneers the hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Speaking to SuperSport TV, Ouaddou hailed his fantastic players who came off the bench to make the difference.

“We didn’t have a moment to play our football, but we make some changes again,” he said after the match.

“The chance come at the end of the second half with a shoot from Appollis and we are going to analyse what we can improve, but the most important today it was to take the three points and be close to the logging because we know that it’s very important to not lose points today against these teams.

“Like I told you, I’m a very happy coach. I told you I have a fantastic dressing room.

“All the guys who come into the pitch, they have the ambition to change the game.

“They are fantastic. I call them impact players; it’s why I call them impact players cause they are here to change the game. And since a few games, it’s what they did.

“I hope they will continue like that.”
