South Africa midfielder Lebogang Phiri has broken his silence on turning down ‘excessive amount’ of money from Kaizer Chiefs during his days at Brøndby IF.
The 30-year-old attacker is currently without a club after opting not to extend his stay with French Ligue 2 outfit EA Guingamp.

Maboe Opens Up On Chiefs Return
Phiri is currently in Mzansi and has been playing the waiting game after previously confirming that he and his camp engaged in talks with Amakhosi in July as he weighed up his next move.
The former Bidvest Wits junior opened up on why he turned Chiefs down in the past but was still hoping to fulfill his dream of turning out for the Soweto giants.
“I was hoping for Chiefs. I wanted to play for Chiefs,” he said speaking to Andile Ncube on Sport Night Amplified.
“I was keen on Kaizer Chiefs because Kaizer Chiefs also came in 2017 in my last six months with Brøndby.
“They came with a contract offer that was really, really good. They [contract numbers] made sense for that age that I was coming home to earn that, it was an excessive amount.
“But I still had dreams and ambitions of playing abroad. Hence I declined that offer and went to France.”
