Petersen on Whether Chiefs Can Juggle CAF & Domestic Demands

Posted on September 29, 2025

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen has given his perspective on the squad’s readiness to compete on both the CAF and domestic fronts.

Amakhosi made a long-awaited return to the continental football since their remarkable journey to the 2020/21 CAF Champions League final where they lost to Al Ahly.

Chiefs qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the Nedbank Cup last season when they beat Orlando Pirates in the final.

Confederation Cup adds to the three domestic competitions Amakhosi will play this season including the Betway Premiership, Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup.

Petersen says, due to quality signings the club has made, they have what it takes to handle their challenging dual schedule in both continental and domestic competitions.

“I think for sure we can [handle the busy schedule], obviously the players that were signed came in not just to add numbers, but they want to have an opportunity,” said Petersen.

“There’s so many players that have not gotten a chance yet. And they are looking forward to getting a chance.

“So, for me, I think we have more than enough ammunition to go and fight on the continent and also deal with the schedule in South Africa.”

The Glamour Boys opened their Confederation Cup campaign with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kabuscorp in the first leg preliminary round before they overturned the deficit and progress in the second leg on penalties.
