Path cleared for Chiefs to sign AFCON target for free

Posted on January 1, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs have had many positive experiences with Zimbabwean players over the years.

You think back at the likes of Knowledge Musona, Willard Katsande, Khama Billiat, Tinashe Nengomasha and many more.

Now, a new Zimbabwean star has appeared on the Amakhosi’s radar and there’s some exciting news to it.

Kaizer Chiefs can sign Msendami for free

Marumo Gallants and Zimbabwean star Daniel Msendami has confirmed that his current contract runs out at the Polokwane side next year.

The 25-year-old winger has been linked with a move to one of the PSL’s big guns.

In fact, the player himself recently confirmed that there was indeed ‘concrete‘ talks with the likes of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

Msendami has made 49 appearances for Gallants. He has four goals to his name while assisting three more.

Considering the fact that Orlando Pirates already have a plethora of talent in terms of wingers, a move to Naturena would make more sense.

Msendami will give some healthy competition to Makabi Lilepo at right-wing. He’s also likely to join his next club on a ‘free transfer’ placing the Glamour Boys right in the mix.

“So, I’ll keep pushing, go where I’m needed, and work very hard to score more goals in the league and keep playing like this. My contract is expiring soon, but I’m not yet clear on what’s happening. I’ll keep on pushing,” the Zimbabwean winger told FARPost.

Msendami’s career thus far

The talented winger made a name for himself at Jwaneng Galaxy in Botswana after joining them from home-team Highlanders FC.

In 2024, Msendami signed for Marumo Gallants in South Africa. He’s currently out at AFCON 2025 in Morocco with the Zimbabwean national team. It remains to be seen whether Chiefs or Pirates will make a move for him just yet.

His career path however is definitely heading for the top. Perhaps one or two more seasons at Gallants to sharpen his goal-scoring skills is necessary before moving to a top club.
