New Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has reacted to Oswin Appollis’ Man of the Match display against his former side in the MTN8 quarter-final.
Appollis, 23, netted the opener and was brought down in the box before Patrick Maswanganyi slotted home the second.
Despite going off with cramps in the second half, Appollis was named Man of the Match on his Buccaneers debut, with his coach praising him after full-time.
“I’m happy for him, we know Appollis for a long time. When he is surrounded with good players we can even see the best of him,” he told SuperSport tv.
“But not only him, I want to congratulate my boys. He took the Man of the Match because of the collective.
“I think it’s a big victory for us but it’s not finished, we have to go through [the semi-final]. The target is to win the MTN8 cup.”
Ouaddou then also confirmed that the club’s target is to make it four successive trophies in the MTN8.
“Orlando Pirates is winning every cup in the MTN8 [for three years],” he added.
“Definitely we have to win it. It will not be easy but we will give our best to win it.”
