New Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has sent a defiant message after his side’s opening day loss to Sekhukhune United.
The Buccaneers were stunned by Babina Noko at home thanks to a solitary goal by Siphesihle Mkhize in the second half.
Despite the defeat, Ouaddou insisted he was satisfied with what he saw from his players, with only the final pass or finish missing – insisting his side need to keep on believing.
“A lot of interesting things, we have to keep believing. It’s the beginning,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“Of course we wanted to show another face, especially at home. But yeah, the team played well.
“We were very good organised, we created many chances, we played some very good football. But yeah, let’s keep believing.
“When you see the behaviour of the players during the game, the intensity they put, just didn’t score because we had the last pass… maybe lack of finishing.
“Let’s focus on the next game. I think it’s the beginning. Nothing is lost, I think we have to believe.”
Pirates return to action on Tuesday when they will face Ouaddou’s former side Marumo Gallants, who started their campaign with a 2-1 win at Richards Bay.
