Orlando Pirates v Polokwane City: Date, Kick-Off time, Injuries

Posted on October 20, 2025

Orlando Pirates will look for a quick response after their 3-0 defeat against FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo in the CAF Champions League first leg of the second preliminary round.

Their chance of getting into the CAF CL group stages is all but over unless they find a way to win 4-0 at home this coming weekend.

The reality, though, is that the Buccaneers need to solely focus on the Betway Premiership. They are six points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, although they have three games in hand over their rivals.

Who are Orlando Pirates playing next?

The Buccaneers host Polokwane City at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening. Kick off is scheduled for 19:30. A win for Abdeslam Ouaddou will not only give them confidence but also see them close the gap to just three points.

Pirates have already beaten Rise and Shine this season at the Orlando Stadium. The two teams met in the quarter-finals of the MTN8 in August and it was the Sea Robbers who emerged 2-0 winners.

On Wednesday, Orlando Pirates will need to up their game if they are to overcome Polokwane City. A convincing win will give Ouaddou confidence going into the second leg of the CAF Champions League clash.

Which players will not be available for Orlando Pirates on Wednesday?

The Buccaneers are likely to be without Deano van Rooyen and Relebohile Mofokeng due to injuries. Van Rooyen hasn’t featured for over two months following his injury in August.

Mofokeng on the other hand, has been out for three weeks and is unlikely to feature on Wednesday.

Orlando Pirates have two big matches in the coming days and if they can somehow reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League, they would have made a big statement.

Can Pirates find a way to reach the group stages?
