Orlando Pirates transfer news: Otladisa, Micho, Mofokeng, Mbokazi

Orlando Pirates have announced the departure of Katlego Otladisa after the talented winger spent six months with Sekhukhune United last season.

The winger joined the Buccaneers in July 2023 but struggled for gametime and only made a total of nine league appearances for the Soweto giants.

He becomes the 10th Pirates player to leave the club since June. The other players who have departed are Zakhele Lepasa, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, Miguel Timm, Innocent Maela, Paseka Mako, Thabiso Monyane, Siphelo Baloni, Azola Tshobeni and Mohau Nkota.

Will more players leave Orlando Pirates?

With 12 signings made during the current transfer period, it looks unlikely that the Sea Robbers will bring in a new player. Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has indicated that he would like to trim his squad this season.

This means several players could be sold or loaned. One player who was linked with an exit is Relebohile Mofokeng but instead, it was his peer Mohau Nkota who left.

Former Orlando Pirates coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has advised the winger to stay another year with the Buccaneers.

“I really believe personally that both of them, Nkota and himself (Mofokeng) are youngsters and when a youngster like Mofokeng is hearing that his brother in age has jumped to the high-paid ranks, it will roll into his head and drop his focus and concentration,” the former Pirates coach told SoccerBeat.

“I personally, as a supporter speaking, I could say that I would like to see him with the new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou,” Micho said.

Will Mofokeng and Mbokazi leave Orlando Pirates?

Eventually, Mofokeng will leave the club. At 20, he is yet to reach his peak and one more season in the PSL will do him good. His teammate Mbekezile Mbokazi has impressed Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos.

The 19-year-old is likely to move to Europe next season if he maintains form and consistency.

Can Pirates challenge for the league?
