Orlando Pirates target the signature of Wandile Dube

Posted on February 16, 2026

Orlando Pirates and head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou have reportedly identified their next transfer target, setting their sights on a young star who currently plays for a PSL rival.

But how serious are Ouaddou and Bucs management about recruiting Wandile Dube?

Keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old

Orlando Pirates’ head coach and management are said to be keeping a close eye on talented 21-year-old AmaZulu defender Duba.

“Orlando Pirates have shown an interest in signing AmaZulu youngster Wandile Dube,” iDiski Times reported.

“Their long-term planning has been evident as they look to build a squad capable of consistently challenging on all fronts,” they added.

The Bucaneers’ plan is clear – to build squad depth across all positions. This is their strategy to compete for every trophy and cup they participate in.

Fill the void

It’s essential that they recruit one or two defenders to fill the void left by Olisa Ndah and Bafana Bafana defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi who both recently left the club.

Nigerian defender Ndah is now a free agent, while Mbokazi is plying his trade in the United States for Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire.

The club did manage to secure defender Mpho Chabatsane from Marumo Gallants.

However, Ouaddou will still want to replace Ndah.

Interestingly, they are aiming to sign Dube before the start of the 2026/27 season.

BUCS CONTINUE TO RECRUIT TALENT FROM PSL RIVALS

During the recent January transfer window, Orlando Pirates signed several players from PSL rivals.

More specifically, they recruited talent from teams competing in the Betway Premiership.

Andre de Jong from Stellenbosch FC and Chabatsane from Marumo Gallants were both signed from their respective PSL rivals.

In recent transfer windows, Bucs have secured several blockbuster signings from teams in the Betway Premiership.

Most notably, Sipho Mbule from Mamelodi Sundowns, Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City, and Sihle Nduli from Stellenbosch FC have all boosted Orlando Pirates’ from their respective PSL rivals’ resources.

Would Wandile Dube be a good signing for Orlando Pirates?
