Orlando Pirates star accused of being greedy

Posted on February 5, 2026

Orlando Pirates are spoiled for choice in several positions. However, that gives rise to new problems within the squad.

Orlando Pirates star Sebelebele is better going forward than in defence

Although he’s not the club’s first-choice right-back, Kamogelo Sebelebele has shown glimpses of brilliance when selected in that position. He prefers being deployed in a marauding role or as a right-winger, but the modern game requires that full-backs have to know how to affect matters in the final third. His game style had drawn criticism, however. The 23-year-old might see increased game-time with first-choice Thabiso Lebitso out injured and Deano van Rooyen seemingly down the pecking order.

The South African reader Dieketseng 1060 said:

“I think Lebitso’s timing of going up and getting back is better than van Rooyen and Sebelebele. His passing is always offensive and not wasteful like these two. Van Rooyen is the worst when it comes to passing. Sebelebele, when he is in the third of the opponent, does not share the ball with teammates; he always wants the glory. He needs to remember that the cut-back is better than the angle he is coming from. His tackles are also always suspicious. Lebitso knows better.”

Orlando Pirates run the gauntlet in February

Pirates remain in pole position to claim their first league crown since 2012 after a Relebohile Mofokeng-inspired win over AmaZulu. However, to say the remainder of February could be make or break for their title ambitions is an understatement. Here’s what’s ahead in the month of love, including matches against defending champions Sundowns and surprise title rivals Kaizer Chiefs:

Is Sebelebele selfish?
