Orlando Pirates show no signs of slowing down in transfer market

Orlando Pirates have sent a strong message to their rivals by signing 10 new players during the current transfer window. However, insiders suggest that the club’s recruitment drive might not be over yet.

The Buccaneers have already bolstered their squad with high-profile arrivals including Sipho Mbule, Oswin Appollis, Tshepang Moremi, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Yanela Mbuthuma, Masindi Nemtajela, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Tshepo Mashiloane, Sihle Nduli, and Kamogelo Sebelebele. These signings have strengthened the team across various positions, signalling clear intent for the 2025/2026 season.

More transfers on the horizon?

Despite their aggressive activity in the market, Pirates are reportedly still keeping a close eye on available talent. With the window only set to close on 22 September, there remains ample opportunity for further moves.

According to a well-placed source, several players were notably absent from the club’s pre-season tour to Spain, including Zakhele Lepasa, Katlego Otladisa, and Angolan international Gilberto. Their omissions have sparked speculation about possible exits, either permanently or on loan.

Departures could open door for final additions

Should any of those potential departures go through, Pirates could respond by bringing in one or two more signings to fine-tune their squad. The club aims to be highly competitive on all fronts, including the Betway Premiership, CAF competitions, and local cup tournaments.

The source explained.

“With the transfer window open until late September, don’t be surprised if there’s another addition or two. It will depend on outgoings and how the technical team assesses the balance of the squad coming out of pre-season.”

Pirates’ Mofokeng saga adds more intrigue

Adding to the uncertainty is the ongoing situation surrounding Relebohile Mofokeng, one of the club’s brightest young prospects. Reports suggest there is serious interest from abroad in the 20-year-old. Although Pirates have not commented on the status of any negotiations.

If Mofokeng secures a move overseas before the deadline, the Bucs could look to replace him with a creative attacking player. Either locally or from outside South Africa.

Should Orlando Pirates make more signings before the deadline day?
