Orlando Pirates have confirmed the departure of midfielder Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, who is set to complete a move to Chippa United in the coming days.
The 28-year-old playmaker, who joined the Buccaneers in 2022 from Marumo Gallants, struggled to cement a regular starting role under coach Jose Riveiro. Despite showing flashes of creativity, Ndlondlo found game time limited in a competitive Pirates midfield featuring the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi and Thabang Monare.
Chippa United, under new coach Kwanele Kopo, have moved swiftly to secure the services of the former South Africa U-23 international as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season.
Ndlondlo’s departure follows Pirates’ recent squad overhaul, which has seen several players either released or loaned out as the club prepares for CAF Champions League commitments.
What’s Next?
– Ndlondlo is expected to undergo a medical with Chippa United this week.
– Orlando Pirates continue to reshape their squad, with more exits and potential signings anticipated.
The move could provide Ndlondlo with the regular playing time he needs to reignite his career, while Chippa gain an experienced midfielder capable of unlocking defences.
Fans will be watching closely to see if this fresh start helps the talented midfielder rediscover his best form.
