Orlando Pirates land Mokoena on a long contract

Posted on September 16, 2025

Mohau Nkota has left Orlando Pirates and headed to Saudi Arabia. That means there’s space in the first team for a youngster to step.

Neo Mokoena is the new kid on the block, and he’s signed a new three-year contract.

What does he have to offer?

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates transfers: 23 exits, 23 arrivals

Neo Mokoena, 22, is a talented winger whose pathway to the first team has just opened up. With Mohau Nkota departed for Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia and strong suggestions that Relebohile Mofokeng will follow suit at some stage, Mokoena has his eyes on senior action. He’s signed a three-year deal with the MTN8 champions. Although Pirates have done plenty of business this window, Mokoena will fancy his chances of minutes.

Pirates risk it all with big player exits

Meanwhile, of the 15 exits from Pirates, four attackers stand out. Mohau Nkota left for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq. 27-year-old mercurial winger Monnapule Saleng is back at his old club Orbit College for a season-long loan after being frozen out at Mayfair. Meanwhile, industrious striker Zakhele Lepasa and winger Katlego Otladisa have been released.

List of Orlando Pirates departures

Meanwhile, here’s an updated list of all the players to leave Pirates so far this window:

  • Paseko Mako
  • Thabiso Monyane
  • Mohau Nkota
  • Yanga Madiba
  • Azola Tshobeni
