‘Orlando Pirates is a big club’

Posted on November 17, 2025

A former Orlando Pirates star has heaped praise on the Buccaneers.

The Soweto giants have produced some top quality talent over the years.

Their ability to groom players for bigger moves has also been admirable.

Most recently, Mohau Nkota scored a blockbuster move to Saudi Arabia. But before him, many have walked a similar path.

Foster heaps praise on Orlando Pirates

Burnley striker Lyle Foster has labelled his former side Orlando Pirates as a ‘big club’.

The Bafana Bafana star came through the ranks at the Buccaneers. He graduated to the first-team in 2017 before sealing a dream move to French side Monaco in 2019.

Now, Foster is settled and soaring in England for Burnley. Recently, he met a familiar face in his former Orlando Pirates teammate Marshall Munetsi.

Munetsi is currently playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

“Orlando Pirates is a big club. Munetsi is also top player. He always has been. We were both quite young at Pirates together,” the Bafana striker told SuperSport TV in a recent interview as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“At Pirates we were quite close as well. He always had a good head on his shoulders and he used to look after me. Just seeing him in the English Premier League and his journey has been gratifying. It was amazing to play against him. I’m happy that both of us scored and hopefully we’re making the Pirates supporters happy as well.”

Foster and Munetsi shine in PL thriller

Late in October, Burnley and Wolves met in a Premier League match.

Marshall Munetsi scored a crucial equalising goal for Wolves however, Lyle Foster won the game at the death for Burnley.

Safe to say, Orlando Pirates would’ve been thrilled with their former players.
