Orlando Pirates won the big race to sign Oswin Appollis ahead of Soweto and Betway Premiership rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

The 23-year-old from Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, who had six goals and nine assists in 59 games for Polowane, is a big contender to become a regular starter at Orlando Pirates.

According to the former Bucs midfielder, Aubrey ‘Sense of Knowledge’ Lekwane, Appollis is destined for success at Orlando Pirates.

“The way he plays, his style suits Pirates’ play. He is also quick in terms of attacking and coming back to defend. He is also a good player in terms of technique and tactical,” Lekwane told FARPost.

“I foresee a lot of potential in him, and I hope he is not going to be ruled by fear. He will be a better player at Orlando Pirates.

“Orlando Pirates didn’t sign players to compete with Sundowns but to improve the team. They also want to compete in all competitions, especially CAF [Champions League] as it is a bigger target these days than the league,” he added.
