Posted on September 10, 2025

Orlando Pirates star Patrick Maswanganyi was forced to withdraw from Bafana Bafana’s latest squad.

‘Tito’ received a call-up to face Lesotho and Nigeria in crucial World Cup qualifiers.

The talented midfielder however couldn’t honour the call-up due to injury.

He was then replaced by fellow Orlando Pirates star Sipho Mbule.

Orlando Pirates coach gives injury update ahead of MTN8 final

Orlando Pirates next face Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 final. This fixture comes straight after the international break!

And now, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has provided an update on whether Maswanganyi’s injury will rule him out of the match!

“If you can see him on the pitch, it means the medical department give him the green light to be there,” the Orlando Pirates coach said as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“I am happy that he is coming back. It seems not to be so serious. All the time when my players are injured, I am very sad. So, I am happy that he is with us.”

Maswanganyi will likely play a part for his team in their crucial final match.
