Orlando Pirates can finally announce new Hotto replacement

Posted on December 10, 2025

Orlando Pirates can finally welcome one of their latest additions to the club.

The Buccaneers have had to patiently wait for a legal matter involving Cape Town Spurs and one of their players to get sorted out.

Spurs star Reece Braithwaite has finally obtained his clearance from Spurs.

This means, the talented left-back can finally be announced by the Buccaneers.

Orlando Pirates to finally welcome new defender

Reece Braithwaite has been waiting in the winds at the Buccaneers.

The 20-year-old wing-back was spotted at Orlando Pirates FC on a number of recent occasions.

The Buccaneers however were unable to announce their new acquisition as Spurs were contesting his ‘free agent’ status.

The matter has however reportedly been put to bed, with Spurs finally granting him his clearance.

“SABC Sport now understands that Spurs have elected not to contest the matter further and have officially issued Braithwaite’s clearance” the publication reported.

Hotto’s future replacement

According to the same publication, the Buccaneers view Braithwaite as Hotto’s successor.

Deon Hotto has been a steady performer for the Buccaneers at right-wing-back.

The 35-year-old Namibian star however is nearing the end of his career.

And Orlando Pirates believe they’ve found his long-term replacement.

Hotto joined the Buccaneers back in 2020 from Bidvest Wits. He has already made 233 appearances for the club.
