Posted on August 21, 2025

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou can’t hide his excitement after the club’s first league win of the campaign.

In the absence of club captain Nkosinathi Sibisi, somewhat surprisingly, Mbekezeli Mbokazi wore the armband ahead of Thalente Mbatha.

Mbokazi is still just 19, but being touted for big things.

Orlando Pirates coach lavishes praise on Mbokazi

Orlando Pirates head coach Ouaddou was effusive in his praise for his skipper on the night. Mbekezeli Mbokazi will only turn 20 in September.

“Let me be very honest, and you have to be careful when you compliment someone, they stop working,” Ouaddou told the media. “But I have to say it, as a coach, when I compliment a player that is doing well, it’s good for their mentality, confidence, and self-esteem.

“This guy [Mbokazi], if he continues to work, continues to be professional and take care of his lifestyle, I think he has a great future.
