Orlando Pirates beat Chiefs to Bafana star with touching gesture

Posted on November 20, 2025

Orlando Pirates beat Kaizer Chiefs to the signing of Bafana midfielder Masindi Nemtajela with a personal gesture.

Nemtajela’s move to Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side has also seen him earn national team recognition.

How did Ouaddou get this over the line?

Orlando Pirates did more than Kaizer Chiefs to secure Nemtajela

It’s reported via The Citizen that Pirates secured Nemtajela’s services by personally visiting his family. They saw this as a decisive move because of the increasing competition for the combative midfielder’s services. 24-year-old Nemtajela was an unused sub in Bafana’s friendly win over Zambia and has made five league appearances for the Buccaneers this term.

Riveiro is back in South Africa

Pirates fans love Jose Riveiro for his cup specialist antics in three glittering years at the club, where he scooped five pieces of major silverware. However, fans believe his influence stretched further than the first team.

“This is Riveiro’s legacy, quality youngsters at Pirates.”

This was the opinion of a fan on The South African while enjoying a piece on Pirates Diski Challenge prospect Mpho Padime. In recent seasons, Pirates have been increasingly keen to blood youngsters. Mohau Nkota rose quickly to prominence before being sold to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, while Rele Mofokeng is regarded as the jewel in the club’s crown.

New midfield maestro for Orlando Pirates?

Mpho Padime is a new name on the lips of Orlando Pirates fans. With 16,800 Instagram followers, the teenage midfielder is turning heads. He’s a midfield playmaker with vision, touch and the ability to run a game from deep-lying areas.
