Orlando Pirates 3-0 Kaizer Chiefs when it comes to new January signings

Orlando Pirates have already named three new signings this January despite having a brilliant season so far.

The Buccaneers have already won the Carling Knockout Cup and MTN8 this campaign and currently top the Betway Premier League. Out of the 16 teams, it seemed that the Sea Robbers will be more content with their squad and not make new recruitments in the January transfer.

On Tuesday, they announced the signing of Daniel Msendami and Mpho Chabatsane. The two players were signed permanently from Marumo Gallants.

“Following the completion of all the necessary clearances, Msendami and Chabatsane will travel to the North West Province, where the squad is currently in camp and being put through their paces by the technical team as preparations intensify ahead of the resumption of the Betway Premiership season,” the club said in a statement.

Last week, Orlando Pirates announced Andre de Jong as their first January signing. The former Stellenbosch star has already begun training with the Sea Robbers.

Orlando Pirates secure big signing in January, Chiefs quiet

Pirates’ rivals Kaizer Chiefs are yet to announce any new players this transfer window. Despite being four points behind the Buccaneers, Amakhosi’s football manager Bobby Motaung insists the club is satisfied with their current squad.

“We will not say no if a special player comes along. Should that happen, we will consider,” said Motaung as per Isolezwe.

“We are satisfied with our current squad, because some of our players had injuries, but they are back now. We signed a lot of players at the beginning of the season, and some of them have not played yet,” he added.

Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are yet to meet this season, but next month’s Soweto Derby could be decided by January signings.
