Official: CAFCL Groups Draw, Downs Learn Opponents

Posted on November 3, 2025

Mamelodi Sundowns have learnt their opponents for the CAF Champions League group stages.

Masandawana will be the only South African team in the competition this season after Orlando Pirates were knocked out by St. Eloi Lupopo on penalties.

Last year’s runners-up were placed in Pot 1 after their recent deep runs into the latter stages of the competition, meaning they could not be drawn alongside Al Ahly, ES Tunis and RS Berkane – the highest-ranked teams by CAF.

The draw saw Sundowns being placed in Group C, where they will have a reunion with former coach Rulani Mokwena. In addition, Masandawana will also face Lupopo, who knocked Pirates out.

  • 2 Young Africans
