Nyandoro gives up treasured jerseys to help children stay in school

Posted on November 20, 2025

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Esrom Nyandoro has shown once again that his heart for the community goes far beyond the football pitch.

He has decided not to keep some of his most memorable jerseys tucked away in a cupboard.

Esrom Nyandoro: Selling memories to change young lives

Nyandoro has decided to sell his jerseys to help pay school fees for children who are struggling.

These are shirts that came from games he won and moments most players would never part with, but for him, education is more important.

Nyandoro runs the Esrom Nyandoro Education Fund, which assists children and young people who simply don’t have the means to stay in school.

A personal appeal for support

This week, he took to Facebook and posted a message asking anyone who could help to step forward. He wrote:

“I am giving away shirts I have won on special games in exchange for donations for school fees for children and young adults who benefit from the Esrom Nyandoro Education Fund.”

It wasn’t a loud or flashy announcement. It was rather just a genuine appeal from someone who clearly understands how tough life can be for some families.

He even asked people to WhatsApp him directly if they want to contribute.

Quiet leadership with a big impact

Nyandoro’s efforts don’t come with the big media campaigns that many celebrities like to use.

He has always been a quiet character, even during his playing days.

That humility seems to make his charitable work stand out even more.

Many people who followed his career know he played with discipline and determination.

It looks like he has carried that same spirit into helping young Zimbabweans chase their dreams.
